EXPEDITION- BAT ISLANDS

Recognized among the best diving spots in Costa Rica, the archipelago of the Murciélago Islands belongs to the Santa Rosa National Park. For Costa Rican divers, thinking of Murciélago is synonymous with seeing bull sharks, although other species of sharks, manta rays, and a great variety of fish can be observed. Located in the North Pacific, they are part of the province of Guanacaste and can be observed from Cape Santa Elena to the north of the Gulf of Papagayo. This archipelago is considered the largest in Central America. The underwater visibility is not as crystal clear as in other islands of Costa Rica, as its waters are full of nutrients that attract the giants of the ocean. Thanks to this particular set of circumstances, it is possible to observe a large number of species very close to us and the divers who accompany us. The best season is from May to November.

What is included?

Dive sites and marine life:

The authorized dive sites in the Bat Islands are not recommended for beginner divers. This archipelago presents three sites of phenomenal quality with different characteristics. Without a doubt, the most famous site is "El Gran Susto" where we can observe the bull sharks in their favorite place. "Bajo Negro" and "Punta Oeste" are sites with less depth so they are good options for successive dives. You can observe mantas, mobulas, rays, blacktip and whitetip sharks, sea turtles, groupers, schools of fish, octopus, black corals, and beautiful sponges. The average annual visibility is 12 to 30 meters, while water temperatures range from 20 to 28° C (69-83° F).
