DIVE MASTER

Description

Do you love diving and want to share it with others on a whole new level? Take the PADI Divemaster course and do what you love as a career. Divers look to divemasters because they are leaders who mentor and motivate others. As a divemaster, you'll not only get to dive frequently, but you'll also experience the pleasure of watching other divers have as much fun as you do.

The PADI Divemaster course is your first level of professional training. Working closely with a PADI Instructor, you'll perfect your diving techniques, such as mastering effortless stationary buoyancy, and improve your rescue techniques so you'll anticipate and easily solve common problems. You'll increase your dive knowledge, management, and supervisory skills so that you become a role model for divers around the world.

As a PADI Divemaster, you'll guide other divers as you supervise dive activities and assist with diver training. Whether you want to work in a remote dive destination or close to home in a local dive business, the adventure of a lifetime awaits. PADI Divemasters are respected dive professionals who are affiliated with the world's largest and most respected dive training organization - PADI.

PADI Rescue Divers who are at least 18 years of age are eligible to participate in the PADI Divemaster course. You also need to have:

  • Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care (CPR and First Aid) training within the last 24 months.

  • A medical statement signed by a physician within the last 12 months.

  • At least 40 logged dives to start the course and 60 dives to achieve certification.

Note that equivalent certifications from other dive training organizations may work - ask your PADI Instructor.

Academic

Sign up for Divemaster Online - PADI's eLearning option - to get started now. You can work through eight knowledge development sections using a web-based system that allows you to learn at your own pace. You also have access to an online version of the Divemaster Manual for reference during and after the course.

Another option is to study by reading the Divemaster Manual and watching the Divemaster Video (a package with the book and DVD). Talk to your instructor about enrolling in the course and getting your Divemaster Crew-Pak, which also includes other reference materials - such as the PADI Instructor Manual and The Encyclopaedia of Recreational Diving - that you'll need during the course.

Your PADI Instructor can explain how it works when you meet with him or her to schedule knowledge review sessions along with in-water technique exercises, seminars, and practical evaluations.

The PADI Divemaster course teaches you to be a leader and take charge of dive activities.
